Hello, Everyone! So here I am again, writing anything I wanna write about show biz.
Thanks to Simon and Garfunkel's 'Scarborough Fair', lately I spent lots of times googling traditional, ballad, and folk songs from around the world, especially Scandinavian, Southern Europe, and Mediterranean. Oh I really loooovee.... them!! Yep! I love traditional, ballad, and folk songs very, very, very much!
I searched them on YouTube, Google, and 4Shared. So when I searched on YouTube, it leads me to some related links. When I was looking for Sicilian Ballads, there were some links of 'Godfather' the movie. So I watched some.
I love 'Godfather' trilogy. Well, I hate the end of part 3, but it's still one of the best movie ever!
If you really know me, maybe you already understand why I'm really in love with 'Godfather' trilogy. First, I love that it has historical values, the time setting ranges between early of 19th century to somewhere in 1970's or 1980's. Wait, is it? Well, Michael Corleone was in US Military on World War II, which last from 1939 - 1945, and he was 20 something then. So, in the end of part 3, when he was about 50 something, it must be somewhere in 1970's, right?
Anyway, the second reason is, I love the characters! I love everyone, the bad guys and the good guys. Ehm, well, actually most of them are bad guys. Somehow, the Corleone family remind me of mine. My mother is nothing like Mamma Corleone. But my father is cold and wise like Don Vito Corleone. He also love 'Godfather' trilogy btw, and is a fan of Marlon Brando.
The oldest son, Santino Corleone, is a lot like me. I think we both have the arrogance of the first child. We both have hot temper and easy to explode. Yeah, Sonny really reminds me of me. Well, now I'm trying to be a better person, control my emotion, and all. But when I was younger, I'm totally a female version of Sonny.
The second son, Fredo...well, I hate him so much. He's a d***. My sister is very nice and she's not a traitor like Fredo. The only thing they have in common is being second child. Actually my sister more like Constanzia 'Connie' Corleone, the youngest and the only daughter of Don Vito Corleone. My relationship with my sister is like Sonny and Connie. And for me and my brother, my sister is always the one to protect.
The main character, the third son Michael Corleone, is my favorite character. He's wise, smart, cold-headed, cool, always use his logic, always act with his brain. He's a lot like my younger brother. They both brave but smart. They don't get provoked easily. That's because they're cold-headed. They are sensitive and romantic, charming, nice yet unforgiving.
So that's why I love the characters and feel attached with them. I love the story, the flow, the music, the costumes, the settings, everything about this incredible movies!! And of course... I love the scenes!!
So, here is the list of my Top 10 Best Scenes of 'Godfather'.
10. Michael Dancing with Mary ('Godfather' part III)
I've tried to find the scene on YouTube but I couldn't find it. Anyway, as always, I really love to see the father-daughter relationship. Like any father in the world, Michael is very close with his daughter, Mary. I think this scene is from a philanthropic, found raiser party or something.
Anyway, you can see the scene if you find 'Michael Corleone's Death' on YouTube. In the end of 'Godfather' part III, the most beautiful memories of Michael were shown, he danced with three important women in his life: his daughter Mary, then his first wife Apollonia, and his wife Kay.
P. S. Mary Corleone role is played by Sofia Coppola, the daughter of the director.
9. Michael and Apollonia's Love ('Godfather')

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCOaI06zAvg&feature=related
I really love all the Sicilia scenes from 'Godfather' trilogy. One of my favorite is when the first time Michael saw Apollonia and fell in love with her.
8. Don Vito's Death ('Godfather' part II)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Fjc-CKwB8
This is the scene from either 'Godfather' or 'Godfather' part II, actually I forgot. But I love how he died in peace, while playing with his little grandson. I think it was little Anthony, Michael's first child. When I watched it again, the scene when he teased Anthony with lemon skin in his mouth then laughed when Anthony cried really touched me. That's adorable. I remember how lovely my grandfather was. How he loved his grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with us.
7. Michael Corleone is The New Don Corleone ('Godfather')
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWWGO5Thy_U&feature=related
This is the scene where Michael just accomplished the mission to pay the revenge to all his enemies, and people started to respect him and kiss his hand. He started to take control of the family.
6. Young Don Vito Went to America ('Godfather' part II)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CycdXpV2mo&feature=related
Little Vito Andolini left Sicilia to avoid Don Ciccio. He sailed from Sicilia to New York. It was a long journey. I love the scene of his journey with boat. When he was in quarantine in Ellis Island, he sang a Sicilian traditional song, 'U Sciccareddu'.
5. Sonny's Death ('Godfather')
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrv1roq_gBw&feature=related
This is one of the most famous scenes of 'Godfather' trilogy. As a fan of Sonny, of course I was really pissed with this scene. But gotta admit, this is really a cool way to kill somebody. Very brutal, classic, and smooth tactic. Oh, Man! It always breaks my heart. I love Sonny.
4. Michael Kisses Fredo ('Godfather' part III)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcFlp6kl508
"I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart."
That was when Michael found out that his brother had betrayed him. Michael kissed him because he was so pissed and emotional about that. Of course! Who wouldn't!? But the thing is... I can't imagine how Al Pacino did that scene with...whoever played Fredo.
Well, if I ever met you, Michael, I would do the same: kiss on the lips passionately and... "I know it was you, Michael (my true love). You broke my heart. You broke my heart." : p
3. Michael Corleone Shots Sollozzo ('Godfather')
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBl_gvTBO9g
Sorry, couldn't find the shorter video. But anyway, this is the complete scene of the killing strategy. This was Michael Corleone's first mission. Bravo, Michael!
2. Don Vito Corleone Kills Don Ciccio ('Godfather' part II)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCdXiOssbM0
Vito Corleone's father was murdered when Vito was just a little kid. The murderer then also killed his mother. That's when Vito ran away from Sicily and went to America. After years of American living, Vito came back to Sicily to meet the murderer of his parents.
What a sweeeeeet...revenge from Vito Andolini. Suck it, old man!
1. Horse Head ('Godfather')
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZtyvlzVm7Y
Don't tell me you're a fan of 'Godfather' if you don't know this scene. This is the most famous scene of 'Godfather', and was parodied over and over again in other movies, advertising, and cartoon. So Don Vito Corleone has a Godson who happened to be a super famous Hollywood actor. I forgot the name, I think it was Johnny something. So Johnny had a serious conflict with a director. The director was about making a crucial movie where Johnny really needs the role. But because of the personal conflict between them, the director didn't wanna give the role to Johnny. So Godfather sent his men to have some nice negotiation with the director. But the director was still keeping his decision. So Godfather's men cut the head of the director's favorite horse and put it on the director's bed to terrorize him.
So, that's the list.
Oh, the last thing I wanna say is, I know The Corleone family has soooo many enemies, but of all the antagonists and protagonists, other than Freddo the coward, I also really, really hate Kay, Michael's second wife! (Oh, Ladies, please, I don't hate her for being second wife. It's trashy. Just watch 'Godfather' trilogy and you'll know why I hate her). Kay is such a dumb, insensitive b****. Oh if only Michael and Apollonia's marriage last forever....
